Hunter Optimus Prime (from the ongoing Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters

CG series) introduces the new Autobots protecting Earth, the Swordbot Samurai Team:

• Kenzan, the police car Transformer who practices the "Emergency Two-Sword Style" of swordsmanship
  
  
• Jinbu, the jet Transformer who will never lose a battle of speed, and a practitioner of the "Super Aerial Sword Style"
  
  
• Ganoh, the fire truck Transformers with unparalleled power and the "Fire-Fighting Charging Style"
  

While each can transform into a robot on their own, they can combine in multiple ways to form three unique giant robots — Go-Kenzan, Go-Jinbu and Go-Ganoh, depending on who is the head.
In addition there is the Swordbot Shinobi Team: the Gekisōmaru Lion Ninja of Land, Hishōmaru Hawk Ninja of Wind, and Sensuimaru Shark Ninja of Water.
The story follows a boy who is tasked with protecting "legend discs" with the help of the Transformers in the Warring States period and in the modern day.

Triple Combination: Transformers Go! (参乗合体 トランスフォーマーGo! Sanjō Gattai Toransufōmā Gō!) is an animated series available via DVDs packaged with TV Magazine and TV-Kun. It was created to promote the new characters sold in the toyline and ostensibly takes place after events inspired by the Beast Hunters portion of Transformers: Prime. The series is formatted into two concurrent volumes of episodes, each one assigned to one of the two magazines and focusing on a specific protagonist group. The "Samurai Volume" began with the August 2013 issue of TV-Kun and highlights the Swordbot Samurai Team, while the "Shinobi Volume" began with the September 2013 issue of TV Magazine and centers on the Swordbot Shinobi Team. The animation for the series is provided by Tatsunoko Production.

Overview
Previously, the Autobots and Decepticons had shifted their battles away from Earth into outer space. The Decepticon Shockwave had created an army of a new faction called Predacons, who then broke away from the Decepticons and scattered across the universe by the hundreds. In response to this, the Autobots and Decepticons both used Preda-Armor to upgrade their bodies into a new form called Hunter Mode. Then, a group of Predacons led by the Demon Emperor Predaking arrived on both Earth and specific points in the universe with the intent of invading them, but the Autobots and Decepticons followed them back to Earth and, together, succeeded in sealing away Predaking deep underground using the power of a Legendisc. Afterwards, Optimus Prime and his Autobots departed Earth once more to hunt down the remaining Predacons throughout the universe. Should any Predacons on Earth return, however, Optimus had entrusted two teams of Autobot combiners called Swordbots with the task of dealing with them. That day has now come, as the Predacons have reawakened and once again threaten the Earth, aiming to revive their master Predaking.
